The designer invited celebrities and influencers to his show that took place in Los Angeles’ Chinatown on Wednesday night. Local eateries and shops set up stalls in the area, with guests drinking boba and eating dim sum and shaved ice. Visitors were invited to purchase merchandise on-site, with proceeds going towards “the Los Angeles Chinatown corporation’s maintenance and preservation of the historic Chinatown central plaza,” as explained on the brand’s website.
The all-red runway featured a star-studded cast, including Adriana Lima showing off her baby bump in a cut-out ensemble, as well as Soo Joo Park, Candice Swanepoel and Alessandra Ambrosio. Celebrities sitting front row included Chloe Cherry, Peggy Gou, CL, Coi Leray and Kimora Lee Simmons, in addition to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna, who was there to support her daughter Amelia Gray Hamlin on stage.
Viewers of the show were quick to remind the internet that Wang has been accused of sexual assault by multiple men. Individuals shared that he “pulled down [their] pants and underwear” in a nightclub, and drugged male and transgender models. He later responded by stating that those claims were “false, fabricated and mostly anonymous,” and promised to “do better” just months after.
Instagrammers like Diet Prada have shared memes reacting to the show, referencing how stars like Kim Kardashian also shared screenshots from the presentation. “Alexander Wang back like nothing happened, I hate this industry,” one user wrote, while another added: “It’s disappointing to see Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Anna Ewers and Alessandra Ambrosio walking for Alexander Wang. They definitely didn’t need the money. I don’t blame the other models because it’s hard to make much as a model.”
